Hi Sp4nna,
You definately need to buy another one. I don't even think that you would be able to find the memory that you require for the old one. When buying a new one you need to decide before hand what you would like to use your pc for. If you buy a mid range non-gaming pc, that would last around 2 years before you would need to upgrade it. If you want a gaming pc that would require more frequent updates in order to keep up with the latest releases. Hope this helps....

Just get a new one, the advances in technology mean you could buy a far superior PC for a few hundred pounds. It will run faster (MUCH FASTER), it will be more relable and you can run much more software on it.
Incidently if its 7 years old are you running Windows 98/NT/ME/2000? If you are they are unsupported by Microsoft now, so if any new bugs appear they will not patch them.
Buy an XP machine now, or if you are brave wait for Vista to appear at the end of January.

you could get a new motherboard and processor with new memory. most new athlon type motherboards come with built in graphics and sound onboard, lan as well for around 50 quid. new processor about 70 quid the new ram which will more than likely be ddr type ram 50-80 quid for 512 mb. for less than 200 quid you can make a new computer. dont go to pc world. check for advice with a local computer shop first. even maplins. even springing for a new 128 mb graphic card could only cost 40 quid. with an upgrade just need to check your power supply will cope. if its 350 it should be ok.

BUY A NEW PC!!!! It's sooo not worth trying to update it.
You can probably get a good new one somewhere for a reasonable price.
Take all the innards out of the old one and keep them. The rest, look for a recycling centre that'll take old PC's and Motherboards.

That's very light for a PC - I would suggest a little ballast to stop it blowing off the desk. Or maybe some gaffer tape. That's cheaper than using memory to hold it down.

If your using it has basic office/Internet than its ok..
I had a Desktop PC which I brought in 2000 (it died last year though) (P3 1Ghz....20gb HD...256mb ram)....
Check your Manual to see how many spare slots you have for RAM.....or open it up (should be at least 3 or 4)
Check what speed the Ram runs at (100mhz or 133 Mhz)
The Ram you need is SIMMs not DIMMs...
Expensive to get hold of old Ram....get at least 256mb (more is better)
try here

hope that helps

up grading your old computer can cost you quite much. This ios because you have to change your RAMS, Proccessor, Mother Board, Hard disk, Probably add new DVD drive, so you better of buying your self a new computer...
Something like Intel dual core proccessor, 2048mb of Ram, 160GB hard disk, 512 mb of Graphics card Nvidia. This components are good so it should last for 3or 4 years.

I would try and get a new one if i were you. If you want to upgrade at anytime, it will probably need a new chip which would mean you would also probably have to get a mew motherboard. Eventually you will have to replace most components. Its probably just as cheap these days to get a new pc

Buy a new one. The Ram will cost more than what the PC is worth.
