hi, i woud like to blog a little in empathy with you. I am 58 , a woman, a well travelled woman, and currently in INDIA, and also a buddhist nun....i was also a mother,a wife and numerous other roles....okay.... your panic is not something that you can TREAT like the flu....it comes from a deeper source than you can know....and it is all about the human conditon and being sensitive....perhaps highly sensitive... medications while they can help temporarily to mask the fears. do not solve the fear the deeper insecurity and fight or flight reactions.....I suggest meditaiton with a GROUP>>>>>>you need to be with what we call a SANGHA>>>>>a bunchof humans who are really comnmitted to sitting still with their insides....and looking.....this is what the art of meditation is about....getting to know your inner being....witout the outside distractions creating a false impression of you and your so called life....what do you want??? do you want peace??? do you want to die with peace??? we are all going to die and perhaps that s the deepest source of our anxiety....i am not suggesting you turn "religious" etc....I think that wherever you are, if it is not anarctica...you will find people who can identify with you...and the ssue of PANIC....there is also an AA spin off group called Emotions anonymous....that is a good one.....Fear is natural...fear is what we are all smelling, seeing on TV and imibing with our daily toast.....what you need to combat fear are some really good teachings on why you are not just a material being who is being abused in this fear based idea of life??????I will think of you, and send you some good vibes...be strong....and love what you have already done for yourself.....namaste, ani tenzin tsultrim

It's not my place to say, but you can ask your doctor. But I personally would go back on the medication. Anxiety leads to panic and panic is Hell!! Fear is a TRAP and avoiding it makes it EAT YOU UP until you wind up hiding under your mattress. We are all more nervous than usual because of the obvious terrorism and the eventuality of worse things ahead. So if you are already the panicky type, get some medication so you can live your life as well as others with harder shells. It doesn't mean you are weak. It means you are more sensitive. And there is room in this world for sensitive people too. Many have what you do but keep it a secret. You can do the same because it is no one's business but yours.
Stay sweet @8=)

Reads as your panic attacks are winning you over again. You must have suffered trauma or were put into a situation where you were really uncomfortable at some early stage. I would suggest going back to the doc and start meds again if they help out. This time try real hard and find out what the core of what is causing these symptoms. LOL BC

I have had the same experience ...
I do believe a number of things can contribute to panic attacks..
have your blood sugar checked...it might have something to do with low blood sugar..
whatever the root of this panic you are experiencing, you need to face it...and, not give into it...because it will take over your whole life...when i have feel one coming on...i just continue on with what i am doing...and, then, i am in control of it...
and, what is my biggest help...is knowing that knowing Jesus, I have help knowing that i can lean on him...(i dont know how people actually get by in life without the lord)...this is an example of when you really need help from him...
good luck...

Yes, you should go back on the meds, and maybe seek help to control it through counseling or a self-help book. I worked on my issues using Dr. Phil's Self Matters book, it helped me considerably. You obviously have something deep down inside that is bothering you that keeps surfacing as these panic attacks, until you work on the underlying problem, the attacks will never go away. Good Luck.

I suffer from panic attacks too. One night, just thinking about problems, I thought I was having a heart attack. I woke up with a rapidly beating heart, and I couldn't catch my breath. It scared me and I consulted a doctor who prescribed some kind of sedative. I took it once and it put me to sleep so I don't recommend that. He also suggested Yoga, which is a BIG help. It helps clear my mind and keeps my body tone as well.

hi , I also have panic attacks , i have not been on meds for about 5 years and it seems like what you were saying happen to you is the same things that happen to me , the driving and just sitting there doing nothing , I have choose not to go back on meds , what i did was find something that relaxes you when it is happening , in my case brushing my hair brings me down off of them , I hate being on meds and i will not live my life on them , but my best advise is to just think of something else as soon as you feel it coming on start doing something else like brushing your hair , it may sound silly but it works for me , hope this helps
take care

Yep, see your psychiatrist and get back on them. If you had acid reflux you'd be taking those little purple pills. Don't be ashamed that they help you. It's okay. See a therapist too, and delve into the roots of these pesky things. Plus they can help you with calming exercises

Sometimes, medication needs to be changed or adjusted. Talk to a doctor, it could be that just a simple change of dosage of a different type of medication will solve the problem.
Good Luck.

me too - - i trained myself to realize when an attack is coming and talk (in my head) myself out of it - it took years, but it works most of the time.
I do have klonopin for an emergency though
also you may be going through a sight bout of depression - be sure to rule that out - - i have both and i'm on one daily pill that also helps with the anxiety(lexapro)
good luck
