Looking for a sewing pattern to make a pin cushio scrap holder combo - it uses an embroidery hoop as a opening

It's called a Thread Catcher, and it's very easy to make. There are a couple of links below to patterns. I recommend filling the bag with sand (get the craft sand - it's drier and finer). Instead of an embroidery hoop, which is not flexible, try using a piece of boning that you can buy at the craft store, or plastic tubing from the hardware store. Some people use a fabric covered tile as a base for the pincushion, others just fill the pincusion with sand. I used sand, but then I sewed a piece of that gripper stuff you use to line shelves to the bottom of the pincushion. This kept it from sliding, and still let it be more flexible.
