Yes, original series and new Sci-fi just aired a preview that said that one character figures out they are a cylon and another finds Earth. STay tuned.

Yes. There was a second series and a few films based on Earth. As for defeating the Cylons, they were pursued by two base stars. It was decided to continue away from earth and to help Earth subtly, without a mass landing, so no, I do not think the Cylons were defeated.
