Judging from some of the questions ( and answers!) that I've seen here on Yahoo Answers, there's a woeful lack of sex education going on! You should see all the "Am I pregnant?" "Can you get pregnant from...?" questions!! Sex education is more "in vogue" than say 30 years ago, but it seems to vary widely in quality.
I think the biggest advantage is including discussion of contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies. The rate of teen pregnancies has actually declined slightly, so it must be doing some good! In addition, a basic understanding of the biology of humans in regard to sex would really help people understand their own bodies better. Some would cite a disadvantage as too much sex education information would promote young people having sex. I think the glamorization of sex in the media is far more responsible for this than education programs.
The topics that should be covered include the biology and physiology of sexual organs, the process of birth, contraception, and an in-depth discussion of the impact of pregnancies and having children.

I think the rules vary by state. My high school taught abstinence only, which obviously didn't work because we had dozens of girls with children, or about to have children by my senior year. Granted, I do think it's the parents responsibility to teach kids about sex. However, many parents aren't doing it. The way I see it, teaching it in school is fine as long as it's approached from a scientific standpoint - the biological mechanisms, the facts about differend diseases, and different options if you get pregnant or get a disease - without putting any particular emphasis on one or the other. That way, the school teaches the facts, and the students make their own decisions on morals.

i think of the guidelines selection with the aid of state. My intense college taught abstinence in simple terms, which needless to say did not artwork simply by fact we had dozens of females with infants, or approximately to have infants with the aid of my senior 365 days. Granted, I do think of this is the mothers and dads duty to coach teenagers approximately intercourse. whether, many mothers and dads are not doing it. the way I see it, coaching it at school is fantastic as long as this is approached from a medical viewpoint - the organic and organic mechanisms, the information approximately differend illnesses, and distinctive techniques in case you get pregnant or get a disease - with out putting any specific emphasis on one or the different. That way, the college teaches the information, and the scholars make their very own judgements on morals.

Knowledge makes us perfect. If children are aware they will do less mistakes. Where there is no sex education, people are suffering even after marriage.

It is better to teach them and also explain them the cons of doing so at an elementary age, If u won't teach them they will gain the knowledge about if from the friends/televisions/magazines and that will be harmful for them.
