If Amniocentesis is the procedure used to gather DNA for a prenatal paternity,do yourself a favour and wait,as this involves inserting a needle through the abdominal wall, into the womb, which is uncomfortable to say the least,to extract amniotic fluids, which surround and protect your baby in the womb.
This practise carries a risk of miscarriage,as you are puncturing the womb, leaving a hole, which takes a day or two to heal.
I have never heard of prenatal paternity,or if an Amnio is used for this.Anyway, good luck....

DNA paternity testing is a specific form of DNA testing, which involves examining the genetic material a child has inherited from its parents. DNA is located everywhere inside and outside of the human body and each DNA strand (or part of the DNA) is always consistent and the same. The DNA in the blood is the same as it is in the skin, the cheek lining, the muscle, the bone, the teeth and all other tissue.
When something is first conceived their DNA is created for the first time. This DNA remains totally constant throughout the person's life. During the paternity testing process, the genetic components of the child are first compared to those of its mother. The characteristics in the child that cannot be found in the mother have been inherited from the biological father. If the tested man (alleged father) does not have the genetic characteristics necessary to be the biological father of the child, he is excluded, meaning he is not the baby's father. If the tested man's DNA does contain those genetic characteristics, then the man is the baby's father.

They say the name of the procedure, but did anyone tell you how risky it is?? Shortly, you risk either the baby's life or his future health, so my advice is to wait until it's born and then do a thousand tests, you have all the time in the world and the result is the same: if the DNA matches, he's the one. I don't know what's your story, what I can say to you is this, coming from my personal experience, and a painful one, I might add: if your problem is that he doesn't admit that he's the father, let things as they are, until the baby is born, then, if you want him to help you financially, do the test, if not, the loss is all his, trust me! Someone will love him/her anyway, and remember:it's not the name that makes a father, it's the behavior of a person that decides it.

I would recommend that you leave it until the baby is born it is very expensive and quite dangerous to the baby, they have to actually insert the needle into the baby through the womb. totally unnessecary,
Why not wait for the baby to be born then it is a simple cotton bud in the mouth (harmless)
then you would need a sample off your self and the father or the potential father.
Good luck xx

lol! When I first saw this it outraged me that someone couldn't know who the father of her child is, but I don't know the situation, maybe you got out of one relationship and got into another quickly. Whatever it is, its none of my business.
Regarding the DNA test I would assume the withdraw fluid from the sac which would mean it is very dangerous for the baby, is it worth risking the childs life over?
