Several things can happen at plate boundaries,

Plate boundaries are zones where you would expect to get earthquakes because of the movement.

Plates can push up to each other, forming mountains
One plate can slide under the other forming rift valleys
Plates can slide by each other

normally in plate boundaries, extreme heat and pressure are generated on that area resulting from friction when two plates collides. this is the area where volcanic activities occurs
