It is to do with the creation of the world In the Bible, on the seventh day God took rest, the sabbath, Sunday. Out of respect for God, we should take rest. It is not possible for many, but as long as we respect God and do all we can ALL the time and not only on Sundays, then we are on the right path.

Sunday is not Universal Holiday, If you for the Arab Counties than there Friday is the Holiday.

The reason of Sunday the holiday in American or European counties is due to the Prayer day, since on Sunday people go to Church and do prayer. and same has been copied by other countries as the western culture.

Saturday was the holiday for the jews. And also for the early christians, but there was a point where the romans didn't like the jews and they hadn't really noticed christianity yet. The christians tried to make it really clear that they were not jews so that the romans wouldn't attack them. One of the ways was to make Sunday the holiday instead of Saturday. And that's where it all started.

At least thats what i heard.
