Hi has anyone out there flown for a 5 hours journey whilst around 51/2 months pregnant?? If so, how did it go? Should I buy some flight socks?

I had to fly from Tennessee to California when I was 24 weeks pregnant and I had my shitzu with me too. It was very uncomfortable and hot. I almost passed out once on the plane because I could'nt flag down someone to get me some water. Im not sure if they have lifted the ban on bottled water yet or not. Everything went fine with my legs though. You could get some compression socks if it would make you feel better. I think it would have made me more uncomfortable. Good luck! Hope it goes better than my trip!

Yes, I flew from Zurich to Dubai when I was 6 months pregnant, it's about an 8 hour flight. My travel agent at the time advised that I do the following: Have a normal appt. with my OB/GYN shortly before going, get a letter from him stating that my pregnancy has presented no complications and that I am not ill or ready to give birth (in essence, allowing me to fly), drink plenty of water during the flight and walk around alot. But flight socks are good too, since there is occasional turbulence and you can't leave your seat. Generally though airlines will not let you fly after the 8th month so be sure to get home by that time.

Yes I flew cross country while 7 months pregnant. The doctor told be the cabin pressure thing was minimal and isnt really a risk in modern jets. The biggest risk is sitting in one place for a long time (could get blood clots in your legs). Just make sure you get up and walk up and down the aile every once in a while, you should be fine. Also get a note with permission to fly from your doctor just in case the airline requires it.

oh And dont board until the last minute. That stale plane air before they start the air system will really make you want to yak.
