Vladimir Nabokov

From the novel "Losing Julia" by Jonathan Hull:
"When did you know you'd never leave, Julia? When? Was it because you'd fallen too? Is that what you meant about the things that couldn't be said, that you'd always love me, even if it meant being alone for the rest of your life? And that was you in the night, wasn't it? You talking to me and listening and holding me. So maybe all those years we weren't really alone. Maybe we had what other people will risk everything for, if only they get the chance: a place in our hearts we could always go, a place that was safe and hallowed and full of wonder; a place where love conquers loss."
One of my all time favorite books.

Just the funniest most laugh out loud thing i have ever read is from the 6th Harry Potter book. Its a sign in the door of Fred and Georges Joke shop it says
"Why be afraid of You Know Who when you shoudl be afraid of You Know Poo the constipation sensation thats sweeping the nation."
Its just too funny....brilliant really (not very life changing but the world could use some more laughter i think.)

Its a book called the Foreshadowing
the line is, "the weak are cruel, the strong have no need to be."
It made me realize just how right that was, because people are constently picking on others to make themselves feel stronger but really they are making themselves a lot smaller than they realize.

"the first of the line is tied to a tree and the last is being eaten by the ants." - One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. if you havent read the book it makes absolutely no sense, but after reading it, it always gives me the chills. it's one of those lines that wraps the whole novel together and makes you wonder if the author is a genius.

For in prosperity prayers seem but a mere medley of words, until
misfortune comes and the unhappy sufferer first understands
the meaning of the sublime language in which he invokes the
pity of heaven!
(Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas)
He was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was
mad. And that was all his patrimony.
(Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini)

In Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, Sydney Carton thinks to himself while he is on the way to the guillotine.
"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to than I have ever known."
He is sacrificing his life for the man who is the husband of the woman he loves. It moved me tremendously and I remember my eyes filling with tears.
Here Sydney Carton who was a failure and loser in life does something that perhaps is expected of another kind of person. Finally he is the hero who shows his innate goodness and his great moral value. It's the transformation and transcendence of a character that is so moving and speaks to the humanity in all of us.

"Maybe it was time to meet him in the right light,"
Flipped
Also Psalms 23 from the Bible but I don't have that memorized so I won't put it here. Part of it is, "though I walk in the valley of deep shadow I do not fear"
I love it.
