I am upgrading to a 125cc motocross bike. What should I get out of a Yamaha YZ125, Honda CR125, Suzuki RM125, Kawasaki KX125 or a KTM that is 125cc. Please could you tell me how much I could buy it for (as long as it's newer than 1997) And how tall I would need to be with the supension adjusted to make the seat low.

get a cr 125, i had one and it never broke down i had some hard landings but it kept on going, all you need to do if you get one is if you are jumping you need to buy a pro taper triple clamp becuase the stock clamp will crack after some hard landings.

Avoid the Suzuki RM 125 because of reliability problems. Honda doesn't make 2 strokes anymore so parts availability is a question. Four-strokes cost thousands to rebuild so avoid buying used ones unless your dad is a mechanic. It is common to see used four-strokes with blown engines for sale. The cost of repair can exceed the market value of the entire bike.
Your height is not a factor. I've often seen smaller kids riding 125s.

There has been a saying since the first days of racing that all of the manufacturers stand by,,,,"""Win on Sunday, sell on Monday""",,,,,,If you're buying a new bike,,,,look at which one is winning more ,,,,although personally,,,,I find 4 strokes are much more reliable and longer lasting,,,bikes are runnin between $1500 to $8000,,,depending on condition and year,,,,go to Auto Trader.com,,,,listing for Motorcycles

CR for reliability and build quality, KTM similar needs a little more care. all good bikes and as competition bikes do need to be looked after.
If your looking for an all rounder to use on the road as well keep your eyes out for a Honda crm125 they are the best! I think they stopped making them in 1998.
as for height best to sit on them. if you need them to be lowered you can have foam taken off the seat, lower fork legs and get a lowering link for the rear suspension ( except possibly the KTM as i think they use a PDS link-less rear.)

I'd stick with Honda for two strokes, but honda, yamaha, ktm are all reliable four strokes.
