I havent seen any polls or surverys of veterans opinions on our situation. Everybody has something to say, but it seems like nobody is asking those who have actually been there.

Do you think this war was justified? Where do you think we should go from here? What do you think our leaders could do to improve the situation?

Im am really only interested in opinions from people who have ACTUALLY BEEN TO Iraq or are from the countries involved in this war.

I am asking because I value the opinions of those who have seen the war first hand over spoiled politicians who sit in air conditioned offices pointing fingers at each other.

Also if anyone has any links to scientifically conducted polls/surveys of veterans, that would be helpful too.

thx respectfully

As a combat veteran, I am opposed to teh occupation of Iraq , which is in the midst of a civil war. We need to move on, we have neglected the real enemy, those that carried out the 911 attacks were predominately Saudi's yet we allow the ruthless Saudi government to remain unchecked as they continue to funnel funds to Bin Ladden through his families construction company. All bu one of the highjackers were Sauid's, Sadui holds us hostiage along with their co-conspirators, the Carsyle group, and big oil companies, at the pump!

Polls are the biggest scam of the 20th and 21st century.

Have you ever noticed that many of the polls state "1000 adults surveyed"? (Fox polls are no different.) These polls are supposed to represent the opinions of Americans.

1000 people can easily be polled in a single city! How does that represent anything? The reason why a greater number are not polled is because of cost constraints (I know this from taking statistics classes and from working for polling firms). The reason why polls don't involve more than 2 or 3 cities is the same.

So, if 1000 are polled in Boston, San Francisco or New York, do you think they are representitive of St. Louis, Houston or Billings, MT?

And now you come along and pick up on a second flaw. Not a single soldier, marine or sailor is ever polled (EVER) unless they're home on leave!

(But the military is about 80-90% conservative, so we could never represent America, either.)

Who else is left out of calling lists? People who have only cell phones and Vonage, like me. I switched PRECISELY to avoid telemarketers, calls from charities and polling calls. The last time we had a land line we were getting these calls almost every night. Many people are switching, and that renders polling samples less and less random and representitive.

(Yes, I think it's absolutely necessary. I was deployed to the Persian Gulf twice. The world is in grave danger from terrorism and the US and allies are the only nations equipped to stop it.)

I have talked to a few veterans of this war, and they say we need to stay until the job is finished. Many are mixed on why we went there but many also know much good has been done for the Iraqi people. Some also believe it was very justified in that they realize Saddam was making weapons. Many of them just want enough Iraqi troops trained so the US can leave

After seeing the filthy conditions the Iraqi people lived in and the atrocities committed during the regime of Saddam Hussein, I'm glad I was able to participate in the toppling of his empire. And all I have to say to all the antiwar protesters who desecrated the memorial to the fallen in Boulder, Colorado. WHY? Who are you to destroy a memorial to the AMERICAN servicemen an women. You don't see me shitting and pissing on your families grave do you? Because that is what you did.

I think we should pull all our troops out, & all the non-combatants too
Then send a squadron of Stealth Bombers loaded with Strategic Nukes. Turn the whole neighborhood into a big glass parking lot

Any service man/woman will tell you that they volunteered to be a part of a system that is willing to help those who cannot help themselves. They are willing to fight for those they may never know. And die for the best country that will ever exist.

I think that our American govt is a vile nasty beast and the other govts in the world are all nasty beasts and if people do not control their nasty beasts from trampling so many poor oppresses persecuted downtrodden souls that God is gonna unleash one of his Beasts, a real real nasty one to consume with chaos the entire world.
