I have known people like this. A 16 year old girl who ended up being expelled from school , A 24 year old man with a wife and 2 kids about to get fired this week , A 41 year old woman who is homeless and jobless and is now turning to prostitution , And a 50 year old that is suicidal because he is in debt because of a gambling addiction that has led to the loss of his savings, his home, and his wife who pleaded with him to stop. What do they all have in common? Could not respect authority, laws, their family or themselves. That is what rebelion is...immaturity, selfishness, the road to self destruction. By the way, all these people are very close to me, true stories!

why would you do such a thing when it is clearly self-defeating? You need to learn that sometimes it is appropriate to do as you are asked, to avoid creating an unpleasant situation for everyone and building a reputation for yourself as being difficult and unpleasant.
of course, if the person giving the orders is lacking in social skills themselves and could usefully learn how to get what they want through tact and diplomacy, it might pay for the two of you to sit down and have a quiet chat about how you can improve your relationship so you both get what you want.

Depends who is giving orders. If its someone I don't really like, yes I do rebel at times.

i've always hated being told what to do, anyone who knows me could tell you that lol but i'd weigh up the situation first and if it made sense i'd follow orders but let them know i dont like it, but if it seems like a useless situation then hell yea i'd rebel just for the heck of it, i know its petty but its just the way i am. =)

No, it's all about respect and trust - if someone I respect and trust tells me to do something for my own good, I'll bow to their better judgement and take their advice. If someone I don't know at all well, who isn't in a position of authority tells me to do something, I might do the exact opposite if I think that's the best thing for me...

I might have done that when I was a kid, but no not now, that would be really stupid and immature.
