Humans share about 50% of their genes in common with any plant, much like the previous poster said.

It's actually important to point out that we don't share 50% of our DNA with plants, anymore than we share 99% of our DNA with chimpanzees. Less than 1% of our DNA actually does anything (our genes). All the rest of the "junk" DNA isn't really shared between species. But out of the 25,000 genes that make up a human being roughly half have a plant counterpart.

It will be about the same for any fruit if 50% is the proportion of DNA we share with plants in general. These are the genes necessary for the basic functions of all cells.

yeah i heard banana. Maybe its all fruit but banana sounds the funniest! oh and we share 98% with chimps.
