That's a good one.

I think some of the wealthy start out trying to do good, and then give up after a bit, because it does not really matter to them, or worse still, they get threatened.

For example, suppose a wealthy business person tried to correct the vast wastefulness in government spending. The organisations currently receiving the money will just hire people to interfere. It is not difficult. They already have armies of lawyers to protect their interests, mount huge propaganda campaigns, develop scientific data, legal defense, counter attacks, personal attacks, anything.

Suppose the do gooder was very, very, wealthy and able to defeat these armies of the corrupt organisations. He would simply be shot.

So, the wealthy do gooder has to keep a low profile, pick his battles, hope for the best, and often cloak himself deep within the enemy camps to achieve his ends. I think the very old wealthy families sometimes make efforts lasting generations to fight corruptions, but then again, I could be wrong.

its corruption that charges them and give them more power! we know that there are only so many players in the field! and we know that they got to do anything to keep kicking that ball!

Money blinds people! and when they are already corrupted and earn money for being corrupt then why stop?

its easy for us to talk about them but for them its to stay in power (regardless how)

There are wealthy people out there that are more given and appreciate the smallest things in life!

and there are leaders out there who are good influence on people!

Not taking the question in a general sense, power generates wealth and breeding corruption is easier that way since you dont have a problem paying a hefty price for it.

Because this is perhaps of the insatiable wants of men.Even if we get our dreams fulfilled we all have the tendency to want more and crave for more......Also, these wealthy people definitely won`t want to degrade their present level that they corrupt people and circumstances to maintain and elevate even their present status no matter what the pros and cons may be.....

Because people are never satisfied where they are. Having attained a certain position or status or wealth, they begin to think "Maybe I could just get a little more". Greedy, that's what they are.

That's why the Bible says "For the love of money is the root of all evil"

Not everyone in power is corrupt. Not everyone that is wealthy is corrupt. In this day and age of electronic surveillance everywhere and media sources hungry for scandals I don't think its possible to hide corruption anymore - at least not forever.

i think the bottom line of everything is DISCONTENTMENT,when we are discontented of what we are ,of who we are ,and where we are right now; we tend to strive harder to somehow fill the discontentment that we feel and that is why i think people who are in power corrupt.
discontentment of something makes people unconsciously selfish, we tend to forget the people around us and focus to achieving our goals and ambitions, we think of ourselves as what matters most and sometimes become very insensitive to feel and realize that there are billions of people in this world who have nothing and there you are striving for something that is more than enough for yourself!
There is nothing wrong with having an ambition or a dream but the sad thing about it is that when we achieved are dreams and ambitions we dream more of something bigger and higher and that is where discontentment comes in.

Since they have money, they are seeking something else psychologically. It could be a thrill or the desire to maintain power that wasn't earned legitimately. To really know, one must examine each case individually.

having the power to do anything without anyone against you makes you crave for more. corruption is one of them. they can do anything in their power. they dont want to use thier money since they are in power and no one will find out whether they stole gov't money.

Greed, this is the main problem, every body is at it and they won't stop until they take all the money from the working man and woman of this country, its like sharks they all start to feed, happily until the food as gone, then they attack each other, uk.
