How long has your friend been having her period for? It takes time for a woman's period to become regular, up to five years.

There are illnesses such as polycystic ovary syndrome which can affect periods, but if the doctor isn't worried then I don't think your friend has anything to be worried about either. If she's really concerned, she should ask her doctor what might be causing it, other then it just being her body's natural hormones. Usually doctors will run tests for things if you ask them to.

teddys_sweetheart, has it occurred to you that the same answer can be applied to more then one question? The woman's health section gets tons of the same questions asked, and simple facts regarding the problems often asked about don't change. Why would you give me a thumbs down for stating facts? I changed parts of my answer accordingly, and added relevant information. Are you so ignorant that you think an answer has to be completely original each time, never mind that it's stating facts and helpful information? Grow up.

That first lady gave that same response to another question. And by the way, when I was younger I'd skip almost 6 months at a time between periods. And up until I was 19 I'd skip at least one or two months. Sometimes periods take a long time to even out. She should get on birth control and that should regulate her period.

If the doctor says she is ok, then listen to the Doctor. The same thing happened to me so it is normal enough. It can be caused by stress, lifestyle change, diet change, etc. Any number of things. Don't worry.

That's not normal, she needs to see another Dr., have another exam and be tested for everything.
Good Luck.
