If anything i'd say they were in fact the complete opposite. Ebracing what makes them feel good sexually regardless of what society deems "normal". Maybe if more people had a willingness to try something new there'd be alot more tollerance for things like it. It's nice to now that there are some people out there who'd like the oppertunity to understand, even if they don't enjoy it themselves, rather than just writing it off as perverse and disguisting in their ignorance.

Being handicapped emotionally or otherwise is saying that they are lacking in having full capablities. So having a fetish of some kind would not make them handicapped. It would be completly the oposite since they like the normal plus the fetish. People with fetishes are not abnormal all though they may seem to be by someone who has no fetish. I look at it this way , you or anyone else may like and think that when having sex it must always be the man on top and others think it should be the other way around. It doesnt make anyone wierd or wrong or right. Personally I dont have any fetishes but anyone who does hey good for them as long as they have the consent of the other person . If I thought any different that would make me the one who was emotionally handicapped since I am not able to realize that everyone is different and has different tastes and likes and beliefs.

I am not sure if we really know what the criteria is for 'Normal'. Are chaves 'Normal'? or 'Emotionally Handicapped'? I think in one way or another we are all 'Emotionally Handicapped'. Because we have accepted rules in society. It does not follow that they are necessarily correct. They are just what we call 'Normal'. Those people that have a 'Fetish' are probably as emotionally balanced as most of us in every day life. Certainly more so than many of the hooligans that roam our streets!

Hello,

(ANS) I think you have to draw a clear distinction here between a sexual fetish which is quite healthy and sexual obsessions which can be pretty unhealthy.

In my opinion a sexual fetish is the absolute opposite of a handicapp. People who have and enjoy a sexual fetish are NOT handicapped in anyway, its a misunderstanding of what a fetish actually is.

A fetish or fetishistic behavoiur is just an extension of normal sexual behaviour and is used to expand the range of fun, intimacy, or foreplay and sexual experience two people can have (or even a group of people).

**Having a fetish is an expression of a greater sense of freedom to explore your own sexuality or the sexuality of your partner. Fetishism's are normally explored within the context of a loving relationship and it takes alot of trust & honesty to play with them, fetishism's are a central part of sexual fantasy too. Fetishism is normal for ALOT of people.

**Fetishism is NOT obsession, a person who likes to explore a certan fetish can drop the fetish easily and it doesnt take over their life to the exclusion of other day activity or concerns. By contast sexual obsession is the opposite when the person is stuck on that one idea or range of ideas to the exclusion of other things in life.

I don't see why they would be "emotionally handicapped."

A fetish is something, such as a material object or a nonsexual part of the body, that arouses sexual desire and may become necessary for sexual gratification.

Classic examples: high heeled shoes, hosiery, gloves, pearls, any lingerie.

When it comes to sexual arousal, individuals vary widely in "taste" as much as they would vary with respect to food, music, etc.

There is nothing unusual about the fact that someone would associate arousal with an object, or that the particular object would enhance their arousal.

I just don't see this as any kind of "handicap."

sometimes in a person's childhood, they may encounter something that arouses them. these things may become ingrained in their minds as to what turns them on later down the road. in no way is it really an emotional handicap. the reasons for some of the things they enjoy may be due to something bad in their past.
