When I first realised I had a problem conceiving my GP did a blood test which showed my progesterone level was less than one (needs to be 30 or above for normal ovulation) so I started on a dose of 50 mg of clomid for days 2 - 6 of my cycle. Following this course my progesterone was 7. Dose of Clomid was upped to 100mg but this too was unsuccessful. As a last resort specialst put me on 150mg of Clomid and I was devestated when after all of this my progesterone was only 7! On the low dose I had no side effects but I did have severe headaches and felt very tense and hot espescially at night on the higher doses. However a week after getting my blood test results back following my last course of the clomid I got a positive hpt! Doctors can't explain it but think either there was a mistake with my blood test results or I ovulated early or late in the cycle. I am now 11 weeks pregnant and keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to carry this baby to term and give birth to a healthy baby. I had an 8 week scan so I know I am not having twins although doctor did say there is a 10% chance of twins if you are on clomid.
Anyway it has been a long journey and it is not over yet but the moral of the story is to never give up hope. Any side effects of any treatment are worth it if it leads to the baby that you want. I wish you the very best of luck.

Clomid can be very helpful in anovulatory women and women with pcos.
There are side affects. Amongst others, you can feel sick, dizzy, blurred vision and very bad mood swings.
Clomid can reduce the cervical mucas your body needs during ovulation but you can take an expectorant cough medicine to counteract this.
Obviously, the risk of multiples is higher than average, about 10%. Clomid should be used under the supervision of a gynecologist who would scan and do bloods to see how you respond to it. If you have a higher dosage than you need you are more likely to release more than one egg and hence the increased risk of multiples.
Years ago I tried clomid for a 12 months, it didn't work for me, however, I eventually gave birth after multiple IVF's and then I went straight back on it. I conceived three times on it and the third resulted in the live birth of my second child.
Theres no doubting it can help but there are other things you can try aswell.
If you have a reason (ie pco) for not conceiving, treating the pco alone can help women ovulate naturally.
A lot of women rate agnus castus (chaste berry) in helping them conceive - worth googling for lots of information on this product.
Good luck x

Yes.
I suffered no side effects but I was prescribed very little.
It was successful, I had twins. I'm not sure if the twins were because of the medication or because twins are in my family. Dr said Clomid can cause multiple births but in my case highly unlikely.
Good Luck

Ive been on it for 2 months, a couple of my friends had success with it. I do get a mild headache and mood swings but nothing not worth putting up with. My doc reckons its half medical and have state of mind! but its so difficult isnt it? Weve been trying for 3 years so am quite fed up, i dont know if it will work or not but am giving it a try. i wish you luck x

No but a friend did. She had twins and was understandably thrilled. However, please don't use my sample of one as a 100% success rate!
