You can recover and re-build a team quickly starting with a good defense, and Rob Ryan has built a great defence in Oakland. (Rob by the way is the brother of Rex Ryan, Def. Coach of the RAVENS, and both are the sons of the mighty "Buddy" Ryan, you know, Defensive Mastermind of the 1980s Superbowl BEARS! - Don't look for a breakdown of the Raiders Defense any time soon!)
This team is already targeting the Offence for a major overhaul so I don't think we'll have to wait even two years to see the results. I'll bet this team will be a menace by next season.
They should get rid of Randy Moss right away. Irresponsible, self-indulgent, whining troublemakers are the death of any team, just check out the seasons had by the Cowboys, Giants, Bengals and Raiders this year! (Who are the whiners and trouble-makers on the Chargers, Saints and Ravens this year? ......my point exactly.....)

Anything can happen in the NFL these days. The Panthers went from 1-15 to an NFC champion in 2 seasons.
I think Al Davis needs to hand all the day-to-day operations over and just sit back and be the owner. He needs a general manager just as bad as a good coach.
I would get Jimmy Johnson on the phone and give him "carte-blanche" for 4 years. I'm not a big fan of Johnson, but he has won at every level. I think he has the "itch" to give one last crack at coaching. He would at least make them a playoff team.

I think it is possible that the Raiders can bounce back in the next five years, but at this point the success of the team revolves around Al Davis's decisions over the next couple of months. If he chooses to continue in the same direction, ie weak head coaches, choosing coordinators for his coaches, and the desire to keep 100% control of the team then sadly we will be faced with mediocrity over the next 5 years.

Good question, maybe Raider fans need to pull a Saddam on Al Davis. Everytime I hear talk of the Ray Dahs they always blame Big Al.
Mike Martz was interviewed......OH BOY!!! Mr. Moron.

It all depends on who they get to coach the team and what direction they take it. What players stay and leave. The draft and free agents. But it all starts with a head coach.
