Try mixing a few drops of geranium essential oil into a carrier oil ( like almond oil) or carrier cream( should find all you need at good chemists like Boots or health shop)....used many different oils on my daughter and found that geranium is best ( and safe whilst you are pregnant) ....you could also try it with tea tree oil too.

There is a product that Avon makes called "skin so soft". It is an after bath oil, but, it repels mosquitoes. My husband learned about it in the Army.

There are foods you can eat which then deter insects such as garlic. There are others but not sure which. I used to use whats called Mossie - milk(not a joke) but its difficult to find in stores. My family found it very effective but not sure of chemical contents. There were no medical warnings on bottle from what I remember.
Why not put the deet on your clothes during evening when mossies are most active? If you are that worried should you even be flying? Consider going somewhere where you dont need anti-mossie stuff.
Good luck with the anti-malaria tablets if you have to take them - they are foul.

Check out the following web site. I think you'll find it useful. Good luck. btw, you must be in Australia if you need insect repellent this time of year.

You could try eating plenty of garlic - apparently it keeps the mozzies away. Try asking in a health food store - they might have something natural which you could use.

I used Avon's skin-so-soft to repel mosquitoes and flies. It really works.
Don't eat bananas. Tests have shown that mosquitoes are attracted to people who eat them on a regular basis.

Apparently Avon skin-so-soft (it's a moisturizer) works pretty well though it doesn't smell very nice!
