i have a horse and e is silly when given apples i was told that carrotts have more sugar than apples is this true.

Apples have more natural sugars than carrots.

To me, an apple tastes sweeter than a carrot, so I would think it would have more sugar in it. However, the carrot may have more starch/complex carbs, since it is a root vegetable, so the two types of carbohydrates may just about balance out.

Calories in an apple (112g) = 53
Calories in carrots (60g) =13

1 medium apple has 16 grams of sugar
100g of raw carrot has only 5g of sugar

I would definitely say that Carrots are the best for your horse!!!

Yes, I've heard you should avoid carrots and peas when on a diet because they contain loads of sugar.

Now you mention it... my cousin is on a low sugar diet and he isn't allowed carrots. (Not sure if he is allowed apples, though.)
