I have a Matshita UJ-8205. When I tried to load one on my CDs the Driver didn’t read it. when the CD start to load it gives the normal loading sound and then sounds like the CD dragging and stops, when this thing happen for few times and eventually when the CD/DVD folder opens (which normally shows the files in the CD) the folder shows as empty. I tried few CDs and the same problem occurs. *In the properties of the cd/dvd drive The Status of the driver shows as working properly. *I tried to uninstall the driver and when the computer restarts it automatically detected the device and automatically installed the driver, but the problem still occurs. * I have the Device driver installation CD but want help as the CD diver won’t read CD. * I booted up the computer in Administrator safe mode, and tried to double click on the CD/Dvd drive and it gave this message-“Driver is not accessible the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error “ How can I solve this?

Hi there. There can be a few problems

1) CDs you're using could be dirty and can't be read properly
2) Putting in a blank CD will give u the results you see
3) Your DVD drive may be malfunctioning
4) Depending on what disc you insert (dvd or cd), dvds are region encoded meaning if your dvd is not set to the correct region as your dvd, it won't play/work (i'm guessing at this option as it would probably inform you directly if it were so)

I can't think of anything else atm... Hope this helps.

Sounds very much like you need a new CD/DVD Rom.

I'd say get a lens cleaner to try clean the lens in your drive, but since DVD recorders are now £20, it's just not worth it. Just get a new drive.

that means your CD-ROM is a problem, the hardware itself, maybe its lense is not functioning that why sometimes they can't read a CD..
