I want to set up a scurrillous website and obviously do not what my details on the WHOIS register. I assume I can use a foreign webhost to get round this but any advice would be well appreciated.

Previously when I have set up web-sites, the hosting sevice has always directed me to the Registration as a requirement of sale and although I can withhold my address, my name would be a giveaway in this town. I could provide a false name but if that were discovered, I might lose the site, so I'll have a look at Tribute's recommendations and go with those.
Thanks for responding, everyone.

When you buy the domain, you can opt in for "privacy" from many domain name hosters.

A couple of examples are http://www.godaddy.com who use http://www.domainsbyproxy.com

Also, http://registerfly.com offers this at a cheaper cost than godaddy.

No matter where you go on the internet, you'll be traced.
