We try to accomplish because it is in our nature to keep on going forward. The day that we stop moving forward and the day we feel we have accomplished everything, is the day we have stopped living (even though we may be alive).
Similarly, you can also ask, Why do we keep on learning new things when nothing we learn will carry forward after death (with the exception of some spiritual learnings)? Again the answer is: if we stop striving for something more, we have stopped living.
I too don't know what the purpose of life is or why we are designed to be this way, but we are designed to strive for more success, more knowledge, and a consequence of more success is more money.
The sole purpose of human existence should not be only to acquire more because in the end, we will have acquired a lot but attained very little. The quest for the purpose of our life has led so many to meditation and other forms of search for the Truth. We all do inquire about the Truth, but few of us are brave enough to search for it.

Hopefully you would want to accomplish something in your life so you have something to show for it. Our time here on earth is short enough. You don't want to get to the end of your time and find that you have lead a dull and meaningless life. You will feel happier and more proud of your life if you have goals and you accomplish those goals. Even if they are not overly ambitious goals, having goals will give you direction and something to strive for. Also, others will see what you have accomplished and you will influence others to lead exemplary lives and to achieve greatness as well. Accumulating wealth is not the ultimate goal but it will definitely give you a more comfortable life especially when you get older.

This is a very good question. In Islam we are ordered to balance between our worldly life and our after-wordly life. So, you always need money to live well and burden no one with your expenses, but that shouldn't make you forget about your spiritual life (which is the only thing that will be left for you after death), and you shouldn't try to earn your living through sinning :)

Because 99% people don't understand or plan for things like death and after it. All they are interested in living one more comfortable day on earth, satisfy there ego which is equated to bank account and pass on the comforts to near and dear ones (coz of love and/or feeling of satisfaction for themselves that in Life they did something worthy and valued).

It's human nature to want a good life with money and happynes. otherwise what would the point of living be except dying? You can have your fun and all those other things and then die. "Why else were we put on this earth except to fart around?" Kurt Vonnegut.

Because no one believes he is going to die soon. A lot of people think about their family as well.... all are not going to be dead in the foreseeable future.

Because they are misguided. The Bible says to not worry about laying up treasures in this life but, to lay up treasures in Heaven.
