No one made the USA the ruler of the world, the sad fact that America controls the middle east came from their divide and conquer regime, just like they did with Yugoslavia, they did to Iraq.
It is well known that famous video of Iraqis destroying the Saddam's statue was set up by the American troops, and that for the majority of Iraqis Saddam was a hero, a political figure who they admired and loved.
What America did to Saddam was the same that they did to Milosevic. America only rose to power because of these cunning tricks which the world fell for, as for Osama well CIA trained him and his Al-Quida terrorists when they needed him for the war against Russia. It just shows that some things can come back and bite you in the ***.

Major General Lord Cornwallis and bad decisions made by King George III. Poor quality and mercenary troops sent to the America colonies effectively lost America to British Empire. Many people disagree but when the British were in control fewer people died. Such a cost for autonomy......
After winning Waterloo Wellington want to reclaim the Americas -I think he would have succeeded and this would have saved so much life in the proceeding two centuries

Many have died but not to make us the World's ruler. They died for our proection and freedom. I do not believe we should be the world police, but we have some ethhical responsibility to assist to attempt to give others freedom from Tyrants. Especially when the tyrant harbours ill regard towards us and our society. There is no concerete evidence that Saddaam Hussein had direct ties to members of Al Quida, but if you look at his track record he surely would have been a willing participant in some sort aid.

Money did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mammon, that and the worship of it.
I'm not a religious zealot but it is the most decadent of societies having lived in Texas for 4 years and seeing the waste of the earth's resources, food, petrol, electricity in one society it is unbelievable. It is the need to feed this consumeristic society that has caused the USA to impose it's might on the World. However we are right behind riding on it's shirtails.

Us Brits. We gave up our empire in order to save Europe from nazis in doing so this meant we had to buy steel, oil, ammunition etc from the US, a debt we only recently paid off. Because of this economic lack of power we lost our position of influence in the world to the yanks who profitted out of the war.

The rest of the world can't get their acts together so they depend on the US to bail them out. We always help the underdogs with military support and money. If it wasn't for the US the world would be in a lot worse shape than it already is.
