24435 threats!!!???

Dude, you're having real big problem here. I think your computer is seriously infected by A LOT OF virus, malware, adware, or anything else.

Here's my tips, try to run your pc in safe mode, defrag your hard drive, delete cookies and unnecessary files, run msconfig.exe and unchecked unneeded files.
How to access safe mode:
- Restart your system
-When the booting screen appears, press F8 repeatedly until a new screen appears.
-choose safe mode
-try to run norton again

If this isn't finish the problem, search and download HijackThis. You can try to search for it in google. Have you downloaded it?Good. Now, copy the HJT to new folder, like in C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Run Hijackthis.exe, click "Do a system file scan and save a logfile".
Now go to:
http://hometown.aol.co.uk/jrmc137/hjttutorial/tutorial.htm
or
http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=3624
Follow the tutorial there and get those **** out from your computer.

If that's still not fix your problems, try to googling for some online forum that discuss virus or adware threats.

It depends on a lot of things like how many files that need to be scanned, and what other processes you have running at the time. It could also be having a problem, in which case I would reboot the PC and restart the scan.

Norton really shouldnt take that long to scan for viruses. i find that sometimes Norton can screw up you computer more than it helps. You may have conflicting programs eating up memory in the background which is slowing Norton down. My advice is to run Norton in safe mode. Restart your PC and hit f8 before the windows logo comes up. Run Norton. It should run much faster and a bit more thoroughly. Good luck!

Sounds like it's hung and just stuck in the scanning mode!
I would stop it and reboot. If it still doesn't work properly, re-install the application from the CD.

The best answer I can give you is to ditch norton. I (and many co-workers and friends) had nothing but problems with it - its horriffic!!! Terrible AV software in my opinion. Im now using kaspersky, never had a problem in over a year. Tremendous.

Mine takes about 10-12 minutes which is about 259,000 files. Reboot and start again.
