"I would not go there it is NOT SAFE for US Citizens! Read the Department of States warning!" -- oh please, that has been your answer to the past 10 questions you have answered. Mexico is safe for Americans to travel to. And police officers with no guns...um, I don't think so.

The US Department of State has been sending out alerts regarding crime in Mexican border towns for quite a long time. It hasn't kept vacationers out yet. Calderon sent the troops to Tijuana and demanded that police officers turn in their guns for forensic examination that maybe these weapons could be traced to some of the murders committed recently, Tijuana and environs were very quiet this week, most hotels further south tho' were booked at the usual rate of occupancy at this time of year. There is no big city in any country in the world that is completely safe.

People would want to go there because the Mexican culture is beautiful, complex, and fascinating to study. I've been there twice, and few things are as breathtaking as climbing to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun, or standing in a church that was built atop a temple to the ancient gods. People need to travel in order to shed their inherent ideas about the natural superiority of their own cultural beliefs, and also to simply learn about the world. Mexico is a wonderful place to do this, and in my personal experience, the travel advisories are far overblown. I'm a young female, and I've walked through Mexico City in the late evening with no problems. Granted, I have military training that makes me a bit more confident of handling muggers and the like, but one can certainly travel to Mexico without having to worry about being kidnapped or shot at every turn.

Come on now there is violence all over the world even here in crappy states. The violence in not all over Mexico it is just in certain locations. I frequently visit Mexico and not once have seen all this violence they are speaking of. Mexico is a beautiful place and have some of the nicest people you will ever meet. You cannot take a couple instances in a country and label it unsafe.

Tijuana is just one city in Mexico you shouldn't judge the whole country because of one city. I lived in Mexico for many years & I never experienced or seen any violence of any kind. Actually it's very relaxing you should try it.
