The Philippines is in its most festive mood during the month December. You can visit many of the shopping malls that dot Metro Manila for your shopping fix. The biggest of them is SM Mall of Asia. Mall of Asia is actually the third largest shopping mall in the world in terms of gross floor size. It has an olympic-size skating rink and an IMAX Theather.

Go to Intramuros and you'll be transported back in time. The old moats that surrounded Intramuros have been filled up and transformed into a golf course where locals and foreign nationals play the sport. The garrison that was Fort Santiago is now a tourist spot where visitors can enjoy the nostalgic romance of a bygone Spanish era within its gardens.

The whole of Metro Manila is dressep up with Chrsitmas lanterns months before December. Check out the fireworks display in the Manila Bay area during New Year's Eve.

An hour away from Manila (via the new Clark-Subic Expressway) you can find a coastal city called Subic where you can visit the Ocean Adventure dolphins and sea lions show. Subic also has the Zoobic Safari. It's the only tiger safari in the country.

If you want pristine white sand beaches, then Boracay and Palawan are definitely the places for you.

Rainy in December but not as hot as April or May. Try to stay away from Manila. I recommend visiting somewhere in Visayas area like Cebu. Check with your bank before going to make sure your ATM cards will work there.

the weather, even during christmas, is HOT. Try around 80-90 degrees F during the day. Filipinos seem to regard this as "winter", and most won't go to the beach! That means you could have it all to yourself. I reccommend the island of Borocay. It's not expensive, it's beautiful (rated one of the top beaches in the world), and everything is in one place.

Much better you go to Thailand. Its a lot safer and better in lots of ways. Fly Etihad Airways and find your own accomodation when you get there. Much the cheapest way.
