Hello there, well the question is partly correct and partly wrong. all teh animals takae in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide whereas all plants take in carbon dioxide and givs out oxygen. Oxygen is used for metabolism in animals including humans. and even plants during nights take in oxygen and gives out carbondioxide and i cant rememebr why they do that. learned that long ago. hope this would have helped u.
