this is embarassing but hopefully someone can help. I have been very itchy down there for about 2 weeks and now is that time of the month and still am. Have tried creams etc but haven't helped much. Anything else I can do?

You need to go to the doctor because if it is an infection of any kind it could cause serious complications and even lead to infertility. It sounds like chlamydia to me, which is easily treated with antibiotics... but it could be as simple as an allergy to your soap/shower gel. The only way to be sure is to get it checked out.... you don't want to end up with a serious problem (infertility, or even cervical cancer) just because you were embarassed to visit your doctor. Go to a different town if you want, just get it sorted. And don't worry..... Everything can easily be dealt with if caught in time!

Well I get yeast infections real easy so maybel that is what you have. They can happen right before your period or if you are taking a antibiotic or even if you have shaved down there that may cause itching. Sometimes if you have had intercourse and all of the friction has dried you out it can cause a itchy irritation. Hopefully this may help. A good perscription for a yeast infection is dyflucan.

Anytime you have symptoms that aren't normal to you and that last more than 5 days you should call your doctor. Especially itching. Could be yeast, could be folliculitis, could be an allergic reaction to something.. could be anything... but what you don't want to do is put it off with a "wait and see". Did you know that a yeast infection or any infection if bad enough can prevent pregnancy? And that HPV causes cervical cancer. A symptom like itching is so general that anything lasting this long needs to be checked out.

Don't wait! Be safe, not sorry and good luck.

Try Cannestan - it is a cream and also in tablet form I think - it works very quickly. Try not to scratch - the more you scratch the more it will itch. Another relief is to sit in a bath of cool water for a few minutes then pat yourself dry. Also, although it sounds yukky, natural yoghurt can sooth it as well.

It sounds like Thrush - you may need antibiotics from your doctor to completely get rid of it. It can be passed on through sex partners so protect yourself and others.

What creams have you tried to use? Some creams can actually cause extra problems because it is not the correct cream.

Consider going to the GP. It sounds like thrush (a yeast infection of imbalanced PH) and plenty of tablets, and creams that you could use.

You could try using natural yoghurt. that is supposed to be really good at soothing itching and burning sensations "down there"! if i was you id go and see a GP. i know its embarassing but if its an infection like thrush it will need treating otherwise it wont go away and will probably only get worse!

Probably Thrush, i know its going to be embarassing but think you need to pop and see your doctor. If it helps its never as embarassing when you get there than you imagine before hand. Good luck

Try putting Natural Live Yogurt around the itchy area, I have heard that can help if it is Thrush and if not it won't hurt anyway.

Could be many things - an allergy to washing poweder, and infection, shaving rash etc.
The best thing to do is to go and see your doctor who will be able to make a diagnosis and prescribe the best course of treatment for you.
Oh, and don't scratch! It'll only make things sore as well as itchy!

If it's been going on for about 2 weeks already then I think you should definitely just see a doctor about it. If you leave it it might get worse. Doctors can normally clear up these things quite quickly as long as they can see what it is.
