You can get a new battery through Apple however you have to ask is it really worth it for an older iPod. I have one that is about 4 years old now and it still works fine however if the battery was totally fried I would upgrade especially since I can get about the same size iPod (30GB, Video for $249) (I have a 40GB, no color screen, and no video and paid closer to $300 at the time) for less than I paid orginally and get more features. Its something to think about

Look on Ebay as they are a lot cheaper on there and come with the fitting tools to replace the battery yourself. took me about 30 mins to read the instructions and fit.
