It looks a bit like Salford (which is miles away from Gorton, where the old ICL tower block is...and where the Gallaghers reside) - looks like Broad Walk, just off the Crescent. Might be wrong, but whilst at Manc. uni. nearly 30 years ago, used to know young woman who lived on the top (22nd) floor of one of the two red blocks of flats right at the front, facing the Crescent (apparently you could see the mountains of North Wales from them) The flats have been jazzed up since the 70's - early eighties, but I'd guess that's where the pub is, further down the walk towards the shopping centre.
