Kind of, as in high school you might always want to be the popular person or belong to certain group, therefore you act a little different than usual.

I do it at my workplace as I'm the youngest person in my workplace (I'm an Accounts Officer) and being working in a corporate company, I have to act professional all the time. And I'm always very mature and always try to look professional everytime, because I wanna prove my manager that I am able to do the thing that an experienced college gradute/older people can do.

Therefore some people don't believe that I'm 21 as I act so mature and dress up neatly. Behind all this, when I'm with my boyfriend and hang out with friends, I'm still a normal 21 year old girl who's 1/2 mature and 1/2 childish who likes to have fun.

I am in high school and I hid it for the longest time. I go to a private high school with some of the most yuppy people who think their **** doesn't stink. Everyone knows now, and I've lost about half of my friends because of it. But they weren't my friends to begin with, were they? At least once a week someone gives me trouble. The worst thing that happened was someone wrote DYKE on my locker with black marker in huge letters. My dad made the principal give me a new locker. No one bothered to try and find out who did it. If you're strong, you can survive it. But if you're not prepared for the ridicule, don't do it. Just know that all the ridicule you get is from the most ignorant people on the planet, because no matter what they say, I still haven't heard a single intelligent thing from them.

High school... I'm in the deepest part of the closet. Totally denying that I'm gay... Although I act the same wherever I go. Don't worry too much, it's a journey to self-discovery. There is always a time for everything.

A time to be closeted, and a time to be out
A time to be attached, and a time to be single
A time to be a carnivore, and a time to be vegan
A time to be intense, and a time to be carefree
A time for war and a time for peace

(A little praphrasing of Ecclesiastes 3)

I used to act entirely different at school than my true personality, but that was before I accepted and loved myself as bi (and saw my friends do the same almost as soon as I came out). Once I became comfortable with myself, I didn't care what other people thought of me and it helped me act myself at school.

People usually do this if they are insecure. Just be yourself everywhere. You will feel better when you are yourself all the time.

I think everybody does it to some extent...we all have public and personal faces that we present.
