Sounds like several. One being Oppositional Defiant Disorder. But there are some other symptoms hint at something much more. Sounds like this person can also be emotionally abusive and perhaps bipolar. Definately more than just depression.

Anger generally is hiding pain. Someone who tries to be controlling feels out of control. In reality, their sense of security is gone. Oversensitivity, crying spells and feelings of martyrdom all point to one thing. That is depression. It's like ones emotions of anger, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness run in a vicious circle. It's a destructive and self destructive mode of a personal hell. It's worse than a physical prison because the person's mind has made its own prison. After lashing out comes the lashing within and many do commit suicide because the mind finds no solutions and no way out. Medication isn't enough. Competent help is more and more difficult to find. Don't give up on this person. Some counselors go on a sliding scale for payment. Help that person. Try different counselors, medications and support groups. There is a happy person deep inside screaming to get out. My thoughts are with you and may you find your answers this year.

Screamin Banshee is correct in her observation that "Thats a condition you don't need in your life". To me the person is either:
1. Clinically depressed (or)
2. Has a personality disorder(s) of some sort (or)
3. Suffers from 1 AND 2.
Good luck with that!

though its difficult to give an accurate diagnosis without knowing the person concerned but it seems that whoever you are talking about has some emotional disturbance. Maybe suffering from depression and has a low self esteem...but the underlying root cause can only be unearthed and resolved through counseling.
I would also like to add that sometimes hormonal imbalances can lead to mood swings and irritability. professional psychological help should be sought first to figure out the cause n narrow down to a diagnosis..

Sounds a bit like the person is suffering from depression. I would consider speaking to a councellor or a doctor as they will be able to put you onto the right track and perhaps prescribe some anti-depessants.
