You seem to be well settled and can afford to try something different. You try this as a hobby and try to interact with those in IT. But don't become a full time programmer and you will loose your identity and direction.
Frankly, do you have any concept or objective which is missing or lacking in the software industry now?. You need a vision and not coding skills in this age. Pickingup java or .net coding and trying to prove yourself that you have achieved something will not help at 45.

I will suggest not to! It might be too late.....
IT job may sound fascinating from distance but it has it own issues.
Identify your strengths in finance, accounts and projects. Do some additional part time course - say MBA, groom yourself and change the job, if required, but in the same field as your experiece will be valued by companies.
good luck!

Sir,
Better to try in FINANCIAL BPOs like Ajuba, HCL, Scope International, Xansa, Ford, Philips, TCS etc., which are doing accounting bpo, that company can offer you better salary.
In other wise, you can try jobs at TOP IT MNCs for Accounts, CFO (Chief Financial Officer), u can find naukkri.com,
Final, you u can do SAP, in SIEMENS and try out visit SIEMENS website for SAP training CAs...
Better, i hope u r not trying programming side.......
Ok, fine.......... don't forget to point me for best answer.
