yes. another reason why it is cruel to keep ANY fish in a bowl.

goldfish really aren't suited for bowls because they produce a lot of ammonia and really need at least 20gallons to themselves when full grown. a happy goldfish would be in a 30+gallon tank with a few compatible goldfish and lots of plants and things to swim through.

there are lots of things you can do to keep your goldfish from getting bored. plants and decorations are a start, but you can also add "toys" and new foods. goldfish can eat most fruits and vegetables. I've never seen a goldfish turn down a pea or orange slice, they can even eat finely shredded cheese. you can give your goldfish marbles (big enough that they can't eat them). some will push them around like a ball. other goldfish provide friends, and just like humans goldfish find entertainment in others. some goldfish like to sit in the bubbles created by air pumps or ride int he current of the filter while others find too much water current annoying and wil avoid the air pump and filtered areas.

it's really all in each individual fish as to what they find interesting.

I keep mine in the TV room so they always have a lot of Action going around. Apart from that, i do give them some minutes a day and they seem to enjoy the gentle taps on the tank glass.

Obviously they get bored, so don't use bowl for any fishes. Better use big size aquarium.

They do and thats why you should always change the scene everytime you clean the tank.

well...considering a gold fish's memory is 3 seconds long, i'd say they would forget they were bored pretty often and be experiencing new things all day long.
