Our offices plan to stop out-sourcing design work. From what I have read, InDesign is rapidly becoming the professionals choice over Quark. Plus I have heard that Quark support is not good.

Quark is the long-standing favourite of publishers and printing houses, but in recent years has failed to innovate. This has allowed InDesign to come in from nowhere and attract a lot of attention. It is supposed to offer much greater control and ease of use.

That said, the latest release of Quark is apparently very much better, and for the first time there is a real battle on between the two. I would say that either would probably be capable of the work, and also these days both will be supported by your printers. The best way may well be to download trials of each one and see what seems to work for you.

Check with the people who will be doing your repro - they will want the same application to work with. Don't know much about InDesign but Quark has always been what I've been asked for by printers, repro houses etc. It would make sense not to complicate matters.

InDesign, definitely. I've never had any problems with InDesign, while a colleague of mine who uses Quark constantly complains about it.

check the specific characteristics of each program and see what suits better in the work you will do.
in my office, graphic designers tend to use quark but in other publications they use indesign. both have pros and cons i guess, so you should check which one suits your needs better.
