Ferrets are incredibly fun little animals but they are extremely high maintenance, are prone to some pretty awful (and expensive) diseases and their life expectancy is short.

Before you buy one, give serious consideration to how much time you'll spend with them and if you have the money for some expensive vet bills.

Ferrets can be trained to do all sorts of tricks from basic stuff like coming when called and rolling over to more advanced and cool stuff like jumping through hoops and even diving!!

All you need is a lot of time, patience, and a LOT of your ferret's favorite treats. Everyone likes a reward for a job well done, right? I recommend "Ferrets For Dummies." It's essentially a ferret bible and has tons of useful info. on training your fuzzy.

As for male or female, doesn't matter when it comes to training. I've never seen or read any evidence stating that one sex was easier to train than the other. I hope I've been helpful. Good luck and remember, patience is a virtue. :)

Ferrets are very gender related. Males and females like same sex handlers and are easier to train by same sex. Never handle a ferret with gloves on. If they can't smell you once they have the bond with you, they will attack and nothing hurts worse than trying to remove their teeth from around your fingernail.
Their are a lot of training books to see what type of tricks a ferret is capable of. If you want more info try the library.

Well firstly you should start spelling male ferret as male not mail. Do you think they will come though the post? Well depends how good a trainer you are. If you suck at it then dont get one. Ferrets arent there to be trained more or less as pets in a non ruril eviroment.

Can't train my ferret to do a darn thing. :) She is a doll though. I agree with the other responders, taking a ferret as a pet takes a lot of work and dedication.
You should be aware that in some states in the US they are not allowed as domestic pets.
And as for expense, ferrets need a specialized diet, expert specialty veterinary care, and it is not as though you can just board them anywhere if you are going on vacation. Also they are prone to tumors in the adrenal glands, one of which is located next to a vessel near their heart. These require surgical removal.

So please, if you entertain the idea of having one of these wonderful, curious, and often charming little critters as a pet, do your homework first.

You need to do a LOT of research before getting a ferret.

Did you know that if you have a female ferret and she is not desexed or used for breeding that she will die from the build up of hormones in her body?

If you did not know this, then I suggest you read the first line again!
