When sky close your account the box then belongs to you as long as you have paid 12 months subscriptions. The box then automatically becomes a digital box alllowing you to access all freeview channels. They are not allowed to leave you without a working signal as i think this is illegal as you are a licence payer.

If you still have your old sky box, this should allow you to get all of the free channels.

you dont need a card for the free to air channels just leave the sky viewing card in the slot and the free channels are yours

You get all of the BBC channels free you don't need a card

i wouldnt think so because the software in the box is geared towards sky, so it would probably be incompatable, your better off getting a digibox or just freeview from sky, i suggest you give there customer services a call and i am pretty sure you can get freeview on it as its now your property.
