Do the doctors in the Philippines know what they are doing?

Like in any other country, there are bad apples and good apples. In this country, there are so many intelligent and perfectly capable doctors. But, there are also those who barely passed their board exams and may not be as good. There are also really good medical schools who train their med students well. With experience, a lot of young doctors become great doctors. Filipinos are also really good with dealing with patients.

Why should you ask this? Ask yourself whether doctors in your country know what they are doing. Hospitals in the Philippines may lack equipment but still doctors know what to do, at least in general. It's takes a lot of courage, patience and intelligence to become a licensed Filipino doctors just as how it takes to be one in your country.

Yes they do. Dentists had the same equipment as here in the states. They just don't charge as much. 10 dollars for a filling, as compared to 150. Medical doctors are trained and know what they are doing. Quack doctors (local country natural cure practitioners) aren't formally trained and have herbal medicine, which is benign enough if you have a mild illness, but don't trust them with anything serious.

All the MD's I saw while I was there, (maybe 7 or 8) were educated and trained in the US. I'm not sickly, just spent a long time there. Use only the best facilities available (still cheap) and you'll get good care.

I am not really very sure about this part as I haven't gone much over there. However, I would say...there's a lot of unpublished malpractice and negligence in the healthcare department. I know a case for one as my brother is working on it for quite sometime now.

Really depends on the hospital you go. Do a little local research for the area your in or visiting, and you'll find the best places to go in only a few mintues.

I think it is the same as with any other democratic country. There are good ones there are also bad ones. Just go to the one with a good reputation. In my case, I always ask recommendations from my family and closest friends.

No. They will slice you and dice you and you will die for sure !
What do you think ? Get what you pay for. Go to a provinicial hospital and see for yourself. If you can afford a private hospital youll get the best doctors/surgeons availible.
