Zero days unless you are union or there is a company policy affecting all employees. Vacation and sick leave are used to make people want to work there. But there is no federal requirements.

You have to have bank holidays, anything else is at the discretion of the employer. However, if I were to be offered a job with, say, 20 days annual leave, I would not take it. 30 days and now you're talking ....

at the minute - 20 days and yes bank holidays are included in those 20 because there is no legal requirement to give you any specific day other than Xmas day.

however, the law was meant to be 20 + bank holidays so it is going to change to 28 minimum in october probably.

european law means you have to take 20 days minimum, you cant be paid them in lieu and you cant carry them over the end of the year. most companies do, but they are breaking the law in doing so. and you are breaking the law if you ask them to. these new 8 extra days wont be covered by that law so come october you will be able to carry those days over, or be paid in lieu for them.

By law you are entitled to bank holidays or payment in lieu, or days off in lieu. The law does NOT entitle you to any other holidays, it is at the discretion of the employer, but it must be made clear to you, when you take the job, how many days off are in your contract.

i think its 20 but its going to be the law soon that they have to give you 24 days - if you work a bank holiday i think your supposed to get an extra day off but it depends on your contract and hours etc as its not always the case

yes bank holidays come into it- you are intiltled to either get them off or to be paid in leui of them. leagally you are entiltled to whatever they decided to put into a contract of employment but generally it equates to 1/4 day per par period so could be a little as 12 days per year ( bank holidays ontop so its not as bad as it sounds!) generally it is 4 weeks paid per year. when taking annual leave remeber to bear in mind that the four weeks will be split into the number of hours you are contracted for eg if you are contracted to 42.5 hours a week 1 weeks holiday is a period of 42.5 hours! if you are contracted to 12 hours a week a weeks holiday will be a 12 hour period during 1 working week so bear that in mind!!

4 weeks a year paid holiday which works out as an hour for every 12 hours you work (ish)
