hmmm - did a search for nacp/nccap, can't find either pertaining to 'black' people, or as I call them, people.
I know what you mean though, would there be a huge outcry if there was an awards for Music Of White Origin, as opposed to Music Of Black Origin??? I mean, define 'black' or 'white' as a type of music?
A bit random if you ask me - we try again and again to be multi-cultural, and then seperate things again when ever possible with things like that. We'll only ever get on in a mono-cultural society - and that's gonna take a lot of time and growing up.

First off, I don't think that it's that hard to call black people human. Come on, were are human, not the beast that your ancestors portrayed us as.
I understand your question, again, I agree that it's valid. Yo have to understand that the NAACP was establish during an era when blacks were considered outcast. They needed some organization that would allow them to unite and take a stand against the bigotry they were facing. The NAACP became such and organization. The NAACP still exist today, but the focus has somewhat shifted I believe. They are focused on improving the black community, empowering young black youth, and raising awareness in the black community about issues such as poverty, education and the lack thereof and so forth.
Why not ask why the KKK still exist? What good are they doing in their communities?

NAACP actually. no matter where you take this issue, someone is going to get offended.
because they can, pure and simple. the state of political and economic tensions of the world at this point in time still recognize ethnic minorities, regardless of the social strides we have been taking to lessen the "gap" between ethnicities. the NAACP is a political and economic organization, not a social one as much as anyone would try to disagree. the NAACP can make money through lawsuits which call attention to, and heighten the tension of issues (social, political, or otherwise) surrounding the black community.
because they can.

Im not trying to call you racist , but that was an extremely naive question. Im not really coming down on you, but you would have to be very stupid to not have better insight than that. To be frank, a question like that cant even get you into the arena of an intelligent conversation about race. Read more, and pay more attention to social events , and social history.

I'm sure some idiots out here will call you "ignorant" for asking your question, but your question is valid and I think anyone who wants equality should not do things that set themselves apart from everyone else or demand special treatment, job opportunities and such. Sorry but the world does not owe anyone, and WE ALL can be a minority depending on what neck of the woods we find ourselves in.

NAACP - as a civil rights movement back in the early 1900's. it's the nations oldest civil rights group. that have made huge changes in America. The mission of the NAACP is to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
To answer your question - The NAACP is still exist b/c there are people like you in the world, who still use the word "colored". People who are uninformed, have a limited world view and still use race as a dividing line.
p.s. we live in the year 2007 get a clue

I'm thinking maybe it is because the KKK doesn't allow other races in. Is the KKK human? An eye for eye! And once again it's the NAACP!
