I think it means don't be cynical and think that everyone's out to get you, assume that things will work out for the best, but be on the safe side

That means you can trust in God. But you have to put some effort ot make sure you get success.You should do what you can do then leave it to God.

You cannot leave your car unlocked and believe that God will save your car from being stolen.What is in your command? Keys and a lock so do your part and God will do his.

Moral is "NO FREE LUNCH" U have to do what you can deliver and then leave things to God.

Same thing as, "In God We Trust. All others pay cash." God has no need to steal a car, and if he did, a lock wouldn't stop him anyway. It's everybody else you want to lock it from.

in my opinion, "trust in God but lock your car" means that you should have enough faith/ trust in God but you shouldn't be so naive as to believe that just because you trust in Him nothing wrong will EVER happen to you. it means that you must trust God but still exercise some forms of street smarts/ some sort of "just-in-case" acts.

It means that you can trus tin God to be there, but you cannot trust the guy down the street. He/or she may break into your car.

as far as i am concerned it means do not trust to luck leaving car unlocked
