Communism, in all of its various forms, has been thoroughly repudiated by history. Millions of innocents have been needlessly slaughtered in the name of this evil. Why then, do some naive people still cling to it, like the next experiment with it will "get it right"?
And I'm quite sick of hearing how it "looks good on paper". No, it does NOT. It looks absolutely horrible "on paper" and even worse in practice.

Communism is a sick joke It would look good on paper if it didn't look so utterly catastrophic on paper.

It looks moderately good on paper. If you're not totally greedy and uncaring about other people.
What would work, and does work, is a modified version of socialism, that is implemented in small settings...say, the size of a town or village.
In practice, and on a large scale, the only people who ever manage to rise to power are often the ones who are ruthless and tricky enough to do so. The "Giant Douche vs. Turd Sandwich" conundrum. And when said person is given control over people who are all forced to be equalized drones...bad things happen, because no one has enough power (or money) to question the supreme power of the leader.
