a baby that age will only eat what it needs. If he's being overfed, he will probably spit up a lot. They will only eat about 2-3 ounces at a time to start, and need that almost every 2 hours.
ANd they sleep most of their day at this age too.

Newborns will sleep a lot in the first few months of life. Let them. If he has a fever he will feel warm to the touch and cry a lot. Get a thermometer and take the temperature rectally for best results. The baby needs to eat every 2-3 hours including at night. Do not feed him more often than this cause it can upset his tummy. Anywhere from 4-6oz a feeding is good for formula. If breastfeeding have baby on each breast for 10 min per feeding.

The baby will only eat what it wants and will let you know very loudly if it is hungry. Babies usually sleep a lot, nearly all the time between being hungry and getting fed.
measure the babies temperature if you suspect a fever. Use a clinical ear thermometer.

If the baby isn't hungry he won't eat, and baby's sleep ALOT it's totally normal. If the baby has a fever he will be hot and probley a little cranky, take his temperature just to make sure he's ok.

Babies should always get as much as they want to eat. Same with sleep. Let him sleep as much as he wants to. (For now.)You can usually tell fevers by feeling their head. To take a temperature, I always used a digital thermometer under my son's arm. Just follow the instructions that come with it. You can pick them up in the baby department of just about any store.

the baby will stop eating when he is full(a good sign of over feeding is spitting up right after eating) and cry when he is hungry as for sleep, at that age he will also sleep when and how much he wants and for his temperature you should puchase a themometer if you dont already have one, and it should come with directions
