It means friends. Yet people being the sheeps that they are hear the word used to describe Bush and think it means evil or bad. I guess they use the word to be fashionable about it since it is used to describe the President yet they don't know the definition. Why do people use the word "cronie" yet they don't know the definition?

The same reason people on here call liberals "Communists". Communism is a form of an economy, not a political party.

The answer is simple: most name callers (on both sides) simply have NO IDEA what they are talking about.

I don't believe it can be defined, because to give it a definition would make it into something, which is the opposite of nothing. When I read the word "nothingness" what I see in my mind is this: The hum of the universe fading to quietness--not because it is quiet, but because everything within ones self is attuned with it (kind of like a smell will go away quickly because you get used to it.) Then, out of the stillness, there is nothingness. *shrug*

It's "crony," not "cronie."

The denotative meaning is "friend" or "companion"; however, the connotative meaning is "flunky" or "toady."

E.g., "Harold and his cronies plan to beat up George after school."
