To find a stamp dealer in your area, go to http://www.stamps.org and select "Dealers" and then "Dealer Members." To find a stamp show in your area, go to the same site and select "Shows and Exhibitions," and you may be able to find a show in your area with dozens of dealers all under one roof.

You mean buying stamps?
You send money in a envelope to the stamp company. Then, they send you an envelope with stamps you bought.
Or you go to a post office and give them money. They give you stamps.

If you would like older stamps it would probably be better to find a company such as Mystic Stamp Co.

Yes, the post office. I'm not being snarky, they have a wonderful area on their site for collectors:
http://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10152&storeId=10001&categoryId=11801&langId=-1&top=Y
For example, they have some great sets of the gorgeous Gees Bend Quilts set, which I think is really popular.
Have fun!
