Hmm - saddest song is probably Hallelujah. All of the versions are good, but the Rufus Wainwright one is especially potent. It just makes love seem so unlike it's usually painted. Rough and abrasive and abusive and it sometimes is.

A close second is The Humpty Dumpty Love Song by Travis.

as for the saddest movie. . . City of Angels is an obvious choice. A Very Long Engagement (starring Audrey Tautou) is in it's own class of sadness.

Movie-- Jon Voit and Rickey Schroeder in "The Champ". All through the movie you could see the love between the young boy and his Dad and how the boy had taken on the roll of looking after his Dad, then it ended on such a sad note. Song-- Elvis' "Trilogy" because I've always been an Elvis fan and the song kind of mirrored his life---especially the part "Hush little baby, don' you cry. You know your Daddy's bound to die. But all my trials, Lord, will soon be over" There have really been a lot of good ones though.

Saddest movie: Titanic, I know, how typical, but it really was. There was this other movie where there's a mother who is dying and her daughters are with her all the time... I forgot the title.

Saddest song: My Heart Will Go On, of course...

Movie: Simon Birch. It was about these two boys who became best friends. One was a little person, the other one was normal size. It was such a sweet movie and you dont expect it to end the way it did.

Song: the Storm Is Over Now by Kirk Franklin (Gods Property). This song was played at my mothers funeral.

I think Schindler's list, it was the saddest because it was more of a documentary then a movie.

The original 1971 release of "Brian's Song." It would cause the toughest of all men to cry. Second, Old Yeller.
