short version. stupid printer wont print without both black and color cartridges, a while back i ran out of color but not black, replaced color, only printed with black, now BRAND NEW color cartride is dried out. what can i do to save it?

try to refill from the reverse side (hole) where the ink comes out.. let it absorp in.. i do that with my HP cartridge when it is dry and it works

Try this ...it can't hurt.
Most printer ink is water soluable. Have you ever seen those "ink refill" kits that allow you to squirt new ink into tiny holes in the top surface of the printer cartridge? Try squirting a little water, A LITTLE water into it for a few minutes and then shake it up. It might re-hydrate the dried-up ink. (do you have a needle/squirt bottle?)
Every make of cartridge is different where the holes are located. Often, you must remove a paper label... sometimes you have to drill a small hole.
Please give additional details ; the make and model number of your printer and I will check my booklet to tell you where the holes are. I'll check back later.
