Originally, Batman(Bruce) was a 40 ish millionaire, and Robin(Dick) was in his teens. A 20 year or so difference washow it started, then as Robins came and went, the age difference differed.

I think Batman is supposed to be about twelve years older than the original Robim Dick Grayson. So, Batman should be about 38, and Dick is 26. The new Robin, Tim Drake, is 17, IIRC.
